WORKFLOW

LEARN:

Well - day 2 - Manaiakalani.  Once again - for me - a deep dive in to a new world.  How reassuring to hear from Dorothy - that tools and infrastructure without pedagogy is a disaster.  Love it.  Likewise the quote : Any teacher who can be replaced by a computer....should be.

Whew! Thats a relief(I think).  So a critical shift in mind set - from defensiveness to acknowledgement and expectation.  Also - a little sadness - thinking of colleagues who are no longer in the profession who felt they had to leave as they felt they were no longer relevant.

How to implement change effectively and sensitively - that is the question.

Etiquette from Makaore.  An important base.

An explore of Google Meet / a tap into Google Maps / and a launch into Google Keep.

Moving on to how to organise your digital workspace - Mail / Maramataka.

CREATE:

Well - on to creating a short recording to put in this blog.  This did not go great for me - I struggled to follow all the steps.  However - thankfully - managed to get a short recording - which basically is a record of how NOT to try to share your screen....so this is something I do need to practice.  Phew!

SHARE:

The blog video you really shouldnt watch.  But....it is there!

Now that will be my goal for the week - to practice this again.  Theres a few steps I have missed along the way -but its a starting point.

  1. Hi Julie

Were you ever in a BYOD school? I was a long time ago, and it was more like bring your own disaster. The students had all kinds of different devices, some had android tablets, some brought ipads, there was laptops and chromebooks. What made it worse, was that there was no way of accessing students' work or directing them to be in the right place.
It sounded like a fabulous idea at first, but the pedagogy wasn't there and it was like herding cats. I'm so pleased I've moved on from those days :)

Your video made me smile, it is so cool and a great first effort. I'd like to encourage you to have another go at recording, and this time try and use the share tab so that you can show the video and other people in your Meet can hear it. The more you practice, the easier it gets :)
